B-80 Tiller?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of making my B-80-8 my tiller tractor. It works fine on my 12 hp, down here mostly sand soil, so I think the 8 will work fine. Anybody use the 8 hp for tilling?

I have never found HP to be a factor in tilling...  Consider very old TroyBilt tillers had 2 or 3 hp engines.  Even my 1970 Troybilt Horse is only 6hp....

:text-yeahthat: Horsepower isn't critical when tilling. I ran a tiller on a B-80 for a while then switched to a 16hp. The only difference I noticed was fuel consumption. :)

Weight seems to be the most critical. I never run a tiller wide open about half throttle.

I used my B80-8 with a tiller when it still had the (K181  in use now I use a K321) in heavy clay soil  and it did fine , however if you like to till deep and not take multiple passes then you will notice the K181 working hard. But I will say that was even using a 40 year old kohler too.
