ChubbyMinnow 34 #1 Posted September 16, 2021 So i purchased a set of hubs on ebay. When i went to sandblast and finish them, i noticed one of them is very uneven. (The right side of the hub on the left) My question would be is this somewhat normal to have these types of differences or does this appear to be altered with? It does not appear to be altered with to me but wanted to get others thoughts with more expierience.
Maxwell-8 4,277 #2 Posted September 16, 2021 Yeay that is strange? a fault in the casting? the axle hole still seems centered with the 3 lug holes.....Which WH uses 3 lug nuts?

lynnmor 7,310 #4 Posted September 16, 2021 Poor casting that should have been scrapped. Coins that were minted poorly bring high dollars, maybe you can find a crazy buyer and make some money.

oliver2-44 9,764 #6 Posted September 21, 2021 If the backside of the hub looks even then it has equal metal around the shaft. That ring on the front is just a rim centering ring for insulation. It ran on some other tractor all its life and held up. If I were using the tractor it’s going on for normal work, I would use it. Just my thoughts
Jeff-C175 7,202 #7 Posted September 21, 2021 (edited) It looks to me that regardless of the 'centering' of the casting, that the axle bore might be wallowed out as evidenced by this shiny metal that appears 'rolled out' of the bore That axle bore appears egg shaped to me. Actually, there was a small sharp ridge i had just sanded down with a dremel in that location and did a little sanding on the other side of this hub. You can see that bare metal there as well. pfrederi 17,741 #15 Posted October 14, 2021 Rangers used 3/8 NF I converted mine to to studs and lugs. (The lug nuts can be found on Ebay Amazon as the 3/8NF are use on several ATVs /Quads.)

Hardware stores, home improvement even atv shops who use alot of 3/8. At this point, not being picky. Grade 8, stainless, std, whatever

Stainless has a tendency to 'gall' the threads after repeated tightening / loosening . Use steel, you won't be sorry! Tried em all. I can find bolts. Thats no problem. Everyone has them. Its finding 3/8" lug bolts that is the problem not studs and lug nuts. For now while I build the tractor, just have them lostly bolted on until I find what I need.
pacer 3,174 #25 Posted October 18, 2021 Ahhhh! So youre looking for a bolt (lug) that has the taper under the head -- yes? (like a LUG bolt!!) Now that may indeed be a bit of a pill to find....
