Thanks for the info.  I use WD-40 in a pump sprayer and soak the underside of my truck, works vary well.  The decks get brush coated with waste oil and I set them out in the sun.

@Herder glad you are using that waste oil , notice how the deck metal , turns black with lubricant soaking ? it also adds a Teflon non stick dry type finish , on my decks , rarely do i have any build up on the underside . agree with you on the sun hot baking in that oil, just the oposet of the life it lives . keep your decks alive , pete

Decks were a dime a dozen, at one point I had stacks of them.  I've kept a few and I keep them oiled.  It does see to keep the grass from sticking.  Even the tractor get sprayed with WD-40 and wiped down.  Not so good if you plan on repainting something, but a good rust proofing.  WD will remove oxidation off the paint, the lazy mans shine.
