picked up a couple more

I've been on quite a roll this year, I think I've bought 15 or so since February.   I was doing pretty good (got down to around 12 or so)  but then my addiction kicked in again and I went on a bender.   Anyway,  picked up these two guys tonight.   The 704 is pretty self explanatory,  but I've never had a lawn ranger (L 156) before.   The Tecumseh is a little foreign to me,  any special tricks or should I be able to use my wisdom from Kohlers and Onan's to get her going (hopefully)

Thanks in advance

Tyson

Very good score!

Tecchys are good but the carbs can be a nightmare. The folks that know them well swear by them, and when running good they are pretty nice.

I never got mine to run right. Surprisingly, the best it ever ran was with a K91 carb in it.

Couple good finds there.

I'll put in a 3rd vote for a small Kohler carburetor.

Set the timing carefully using the manual and/or tricks on the YouTube. I've got a few videos saved aside I can share if you like.

I don't know why so many have a grudge against the Tecky, and the Tecky carb. Mine works perfectly. Starts every time with just a bump of the key, and runs great. I must have just got lucky I guess.

You may have some luck of the draw but I think it's more to the point that you took the initiative to set the engine timing correctly and accurately.

My Tecumseh runs great when it is running. Have rebuilt it, and cleaned it twice. When you shut it off, the bowl still over fills and soaks the air filter. Soooo I have a cheap carb ordered to see if it helps.

Logic would tell you of course that it is your needle and seat at fault in that situation but I've had carbs in the past that just would never quite seal right even after 2 or 3 or more changes of needle and seat.

The 8 HP Briggs that sits on Trina's Pony is a late 70s version off of a snow blower and that one has been done multiple times in the last decade+. We just have to shut the gas off and let it run out.
