Wheelhorse#1 1,669 #6 Posted September 2, 2021 (edited) Well I pulled the crank and piston out.I haven’t measured anything yet waiting on a couple things. doesn’t look to bad I guess won’t know for sure till I measure the bore and crank.The other side of the piston looks the same. what do you think ? Tuneup 1,433 #8 Posted September 4, 2021 So, was the rod to pin gap too large? Excess crank play? Wondering still on the source of the knock. squonk 41,162 #9 Posted September 4, 2021 I want to see the bearing surface of the rod. Looks like it was just starting to wipe itself on the crank. That piston scoring is bad. That lower part of the cylinder will destroy a new piston in short order without boring. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I've seen that several times when the engine overheated - low or dirty oil, excess chaff build up in fins, missing fins?, etc. Whatever, some close measurements need to be done ... definitely do not run it with out finding out.
