Tuneup 1,433 #1 Posted August 25, 2021 Hi Gang! Well, LocTite was obtained and the arbors attached so some progress today. Time to attach the pulleys, though VERY carefully. I am of the opinion that the pulley offset must be top which places the final position lowest. It appears this will match the center pulley which doesn't give me a choice. Yeah, should have taken pictures. However, this support plate was nicely welded by the PO for strength and rubs (you can see the mark from the first tightening). I have no washer between the bearing and the pulley. The IPL notes a rubber grommet, not a washer. Right, right??? So.... am I placing these pulleys properly? If so, I'll have to shim all three of them. I just need the gurus to give their OK before I tighten these things to the point where they won't come back off (yes, used anti-seize). How about an inversion? Inversion likely to misalign with the center... Big thanks from North Georgia!
daveoman1966 3,745 #2 Posted August 25, 2021 Your 1st pic is corrrectly mounted. Since you've effectively marked where the pulley will rub the weld, grind down the weld about 1/8" BELOW the pulley rim. You should NOT use shims on either of the 3 spindles. Here is the correct pulley mount on a 48" deck. Usa LOCK WASHER with top nut of each spindle.
