Got a phone call today, they are saying November 3 at least, plus they’re asking for another $10k. I don’t understand, when we signed a purchase agreement. ebinmaine 67,313 #32 Posted August 25, 2021 Seems to me you're not going to get it any faster or slower by shopping around all over the country and in my opinion they're already asking too much

Might be longer. I don't even go to Starbucks. I'm not skipping out on tractor parts, truck parts, hiking stuff, camping gear. Food, coffee. Well.... We may have to renegotiate. Not good… I ended up getting to the guy with his name on the building. He was much better at explaining their issue and that basically KZ cannot supply them with the camper we ordered. I explained to him that he has some house cleaning to do in the form of his sales manager is an idiot and shouldn’t be allowed to talk with customers. We unfortunately had to cancel and will get our $$ down payment back. I guess now we have some extra cash to get moving on the bus project…

SylvanLakeWH 25,500 #41 Posted August 25, 2021 Loads of apparently “finished” cars and trucks sitting in yards all over SE Michigan… waiting on chips or other specific parts not available… Wonder if same sort of issue with rv’s…

It's effecting everything with any sort of computerized anything. I just finished a car that has been down in our shop for 72 days waiting for a computer. We had another vehicle sitting on our lot for over a year waiting for a module that was backordered, still hasn't come it, but the owner came and took it so it can sit around at the quarry and at least the welder is available to him.

I doubt it’ll get me any closer to my toy hauler, but I figured they should hear my side of the story, how their dealer’s actions have made me feel sour about the manufacturer.

I gotta tell people I can quote your job but can't get equipment. They say they can wait but I can't tell them when and when they want to put money down I gotta say wait till I gotta pay for your furnace. 1
Handy Don 12,167 #45 Posted August 26, 2021 I feel for the disappointment of having your order cancelled on you. It may take some extra effort, but I endorse the suggestion of scouting around for an alternate. I, too, am seeing RV/motorhome lots overflowing with product. The "chip shortage" has been no shock to me having been close to the industry, but many folks are getting a remedial course in the complexities of a global supply chain. They are learning that it's more than cars and computers that need chips--it's everyday household appliances, too. If fact, nearly everything that gets plugged in or uses power and had a display or indicator lamp--even those "wall wart" power adaptors. From what I'm reading in industry publications, the supply chain won't get back to "normal" for about a year or longer. It can take as much as a year for a chip factory to go from planning to produce a chip to being able to ship them. Also, the industry has decommissioned some "old" capacity as they were switching to "new" capacity (i.e. to make higher density, faster chips) and so the chip-using product manufacturers are having to convert their products at the same time.
