Snoopy11 5,714 #29 Posted August 20, 2021 Heh heh, Busted by finger open... 1 inch gash of flesh gone where the bone was clearly visible. Sitting in ER bleeding all over the floor... yet... the imbeciles with 'pains' go ahead. I sat in there bleeding for an hour before they decided I had bled enough. My area down here is notorious for drugs, people go to the ER claiming that they have pains to get pain medications and unfortunately get priority... even over people who are real emergencies. Interesting... the finger I busted open was my middle finger... Don

I was in a waiting room for a very long time - and then left. This was the second time it happened - and the last time as I moved to a different practice after that. I had only been a patient with this doctor for a couple of years after my first doctor retired. I was fortunate to have a great first family doctor for decades that actually delivered me. After completing medical school, he served as a major in the US Army Medical Corps in Europe during WW II. He was decorated with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. After serving his country, he started his general practice. He was among the first fellows of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He served as chief of staff at a local hospital and later opened a primary care facility at that hospital. Outstanding person and doctor that provided great service to my family and the community. To state there was a let down from doctor #1 to doctor #2 would be an understatement. When I do go to my current practice - my wait is not long but I rarely see the doctor. If I do see the doctor it is just brief. Most times it is the physician assistant or nurse practitioner or whatever. We cringed at the thought of losing our family doctor ... family dentist ... and of course lawyer and auto mechanic lol. Our family doctor retired and moved away. Our family dentist - also very accomplished - worked well into his late 70's and unfortunately passed away in his mid 80's. He was a two-time high school state wrestling champion, three-time NCAA collegiate wrestling champion (56-1 record), gold medalist at the Pan Am games, 6th place finish in the Olympics. After graduating from dental school, he served as lieutenant commander in the US Navy and dental corps. After his military service he practiced dentistry for over 50 years. His service (and prices) were outstanding - and one of the nicest and most humble professionals I've been around ; some of his staff members were not aware of his many past accomplishments (until I spilled the beans lol). They don't make too many like this these days. Edited August 20, 2021 by tom2p

roadapples 6,983 #33 Posted August 20, 2021 I'm one of the lucky ones. Been going to Hershey Medical Center since November 2019. Spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year there. Only once a week now. Was every other day, including weekends, for well over 6 months. 57mi. one way. Always there 30min early. Everyone I've delt with have become like family. Nurses have told me about getting snapped at for asking a question because the patient was on the phone. I couldn't do their job. I worked at NAPA for a while dealing with the public. No thanks. I can't imagine what it's like working all the time with people who are old, sick, or in pain. When the nurses, PAs or DRs thank me for patience or understanding, I always respond with the same answer, "Hey, you're trying to save my life".... 5

lynnmor 7,302 #35 Posted August 20, 2021 My dentist retired a few years ago and it was time, he started making mistakes. The practice was bought by a young guy with no clue about customer service and he messed me up big time when a temporary crown popped off and wasted another molar. I shopped around and found a place 35 minutes away in a different county and it has been great. Tuesday evening I broke a front tooth in half and called at 5:10 PM, if I would have been in pain they would have seen me for pain relief after hours but since there was no pain they made an appointment for 8:10 Wednesday morning. At about 9:30 AM I walked out of that office with the tooth fixed and the job looks perfect. I left them a great review.

Tractorhead 9,064 #46 Posted August 21, 2021 I dunno if it‘s different on the Sites, my Wife develops about 2 Moths ago a Heart Attack. Thankfully to our shortly last First Aid Training i was able to understand what actually happens. The diagnosis cardiac Troubles. So i call the 112 Here ( the same as 911 on your site) and get after 20 sec. A responsible Person to the Phone. They Alarmed the First Responder and a Doctor. Immediately after the call i start a Timer on my Mobile phone, to be able to answer them the running time. 3:45 later the First Responder occurs with full Lights and Siren, and 4:50 later the Medical Guy was here. They had a mobile Heart Monitor aside and confirm my Diagnostic. They react immediately and about 12 min. Later Mrs. Tractorherad was getting a Stent in Hospital. It was a complete heart back wall infarct. Thanks all who was involved, and their extreme quick responses, her Heart was only a little annoyed, but it is back fully in Function now. She had not much more time to left, or her Heart was developing massive defects. Luckily she had 100% upright persons in her situation, i dont want imagine what happen if not. While Mrs. Tractorhead was immediately after that happen in Rehabilitation center, she is now at 70% back in Service. But the annoyed Heart needs its time to heal completely.. but i also have some bad results in my History. Dentists here for example, i had a broken tooth, on Friday late evening about few years ago. They hand you over to a emergency dentist service. To be at them, you have to ride completely thru the City about 50 Km in Rushour.. if you be there, they closing... - sorry we have just 2 Hours Service so we are no longer in Service.. You must go to the Next.. - oh ok, where is it? In Rosenheim ( 60Km far....) i had this 5 Times than i stopped at a pharmacy and get the hardes Painkiller pills without doctor you can get. so i must fixed my complete Weekend... ain’t Funny. A Doctor is not more a Holy person for me, lots of them forgotten the oath of hippocrates, they have to swear by the appropriation Specialists here are also rare, good specialists are extremely rare, but sometimes you are lucky. You just have to find them, that is the hardest Part...
stevasaurus 22,711 #47 Posted August 21, 2021 Chicks dig scars! @pullstart You bet they do!! I've had 2 hernias...one on each side...I could sell tickets. I've also had a ruptured navel. It looks like a smiley face. I've made money on showing that one. I don't remember having to wait for the surgery, actually, I'm surprised they don't want a take from me showing the scars. Speaking of scars...the vasectomy ones have the hugest draw...drilling a hole in your hand???...I just can't imagine have to wait to see that.
stevasaurus 22,711 #48 Posted August 21, 2021 I am going to say this. When my Mom was alive, I was the care giver. I drove her to all of her appointments for over 20 years, and stayed with her through the surgeries. All of her doctors were excellent...heart plumbers & electricians, gastric, skin guys, and her main Primary Care. Yes, sometimes you have to wait longer then you think you should have to...sometimes they over book...but when you have good Doctors...you know, and when you don't, you know also. We fired a primary care guy for her...the guy was a jerk. It took some talking to nurses and some of her other Doctors, but the truth came out finally, and the Hospital Board suspended his license to practice in Elgin, Ill. hospitals. My Mom was a sweetheart, and these people knew her and stood up. It is possible to do this, but it is not easy to blackball one of their own. I have a feeling, we were not the 1st to complain. On the other side, I have walked out of offices where I've had an appointment and the waiting time was excessive. I've just told the receptionist..."My time is valuable also...I have to go." These were not Doctors that may get caught in emergency issues...that would be understandable. One time I was waiting for a surgery...scheduled for like 8:00AM...Doctor had an emergency that took him 3 hours. Nurses let me know what they could, but they did not know either. Ended up being like noon for the surgery... @pullstart Not a scar I can show chicks...things happen and all you can do is hope the Dr. is alright. Moral...if you do not like your Dr., do not hesitate to get another. If you like your Dr., then by all means, take a book to your waiting room. Ask yourself this question...why would you go under the knife for somebody you don't trust. AND...why would you want to upset the Dr. and his staff, that you like?? Remember, this guy can lift up the banky and show the nurses how small you are.
