RONALD M 1 #1 Posted August 19, 2021 Ihave a 312-8 97 mdl that i bought for 200.00 been mowing with it for 3 years some how the drive belt got cut and i am having to replace it,after taking off the plate on side and the foot rest to get to the belt Iam sitting here looking at the idler pully and when i mash on clutch pedal there seems to be no tension adjustment on the belt my mower has the piston spring on it and it is weak because i just greased the joints and the peddle dosen,t come back on it,s own. if i remove the piston spring can i replace it with a real spring and if so where would i attach it. Had a spring cut its way through the clutch linkage haha. drilled a new hole and we are all good now! 953 nut 55,316 #3 Posted August 19, 2021 The older model wheel horses used a spring that mounted on the other side of your tractor. The spring connects the linkage to a small tab on the rear axle.
