Tuneup 1,433 #1 Posted August 17, 2021 Howdy there, So, the 48" deck is all done but for the remaining painting of the support system. I'll have this thing together by the end of the month and in use under the 516H. That said, I noticed plenty of wear from rubbing when the deck is forced side-to-side in use and my current 42" is the same. Have any of you applied a coating or maybe plastic tape or the like as a buffer? I'm assuming this is normal... Inquiring minds want to know. Why spend all the time making it look great only to have it beat to death after a season?
Ed Kennell 38,029 #2 Posted August 17, 2021 I guess you are talking about the two vertical deck centering bars at the front of the deck. I coat mine with grease to prevent wear. Short of going to all SST carriage components, I doubt if any coating or tape would last.
Tuneup 1,433 #3 Posted August 18, 2021 Yeah, that's it. I was thinking silicone tape or something naturally slippery. Grease if nothing else.
Tuneup 1,433 #4 Posted August 18, 2021 I'll break it to the wife that the buying for the deck is NOT done. UHMW tape might be the ticket.
