@carrot platinum, never had a failure with this grease, its a polyurea (  recovering ) based , hi temp 560 point , anti sling grease. any  bearing repacked with this , will not fail , and any threaded devise will work with ease. no bearing deck failures and no noise , the same bearing # 6203 ( 3/4 )  are for deck spindle bearings and the same bearing fits in the mule drive bearings . my tractors are regularly maintained , and every thing on them  works , and functions with little effort . pete

  • @Carrot platinum , had my set up for years , with no problems , use lucas xtra heavy duty grease, walmart has it for $ 5 . those mule drive bearings are the same as the mower deck bearings  , # 6203 ( 3/4 ) , all the bearings are repacked with this grease. the threaded rod belt adjustment is also lubed with it . works smooth and easy . finding a problem area and making a change to it for reliability , works for me . pete

Right on! I will pick some of that stuff up (and maybe some bearing just for good measure). Do you frequently use your tractors? Once i get mine all together i plan on using it as my main mowing, gardening and slowblowing rig so its gonna see alot of use!

@Carrot platinum ,  yes I do frequently use my 3 horses, rotate them  , for  grass cutting and trimming . have them basically set up the same way,  91 and 93, 312-8 , and 82 -C 85 with a 12 magnum swap , bought that new in 82 , coming on 40 years . use the snow blades in winter , on two of them , and  a single stage blower , on the other . many of the changes I  have added / changed ,were to make things  bombproof , it upsets the purist's, not my intent , but why not make a repair that lasts ?  retired millwright , that bearing swap and lubrication upgrade , is the deal , no failures , smooth ,quiet and solid , good talking , got a question , just ask , pete

Howdy all. I got all the parts i needed from pullstart in the mail yesterday. Shoutout to him for being such a big help. I love how he used my username as the name on the package, brought a smile to my face. Everything went on easy, took about 20 minutes with the aid of the service manual. I still have to find the deck lift, so the deck is always down, but it still works great. The hardest part was the big lift thing that goes on the deck, figuring out combinations of nuts for an effective, tight double nut. It cuts great, and the deck engaging and running is quieter that alot of modern mowers i have heard. Thanks again, i will definitely be sticking around this forum for knowledge.
