AHS 1,440 #1 Posted August 17, 2021 What models do the key switches fit? The C series? What is the wiring diagram? The issue is, 70 Raider 12 (updated) regular round coil. The key switch had a solenoid built into it… threw that away. Bought a 103990, and regular solenoid that mounts on the motor. All the wires are ran, now I just need to put them where they actually belong in that 5 block. Thanks!

Those switches did NOT have a solenoid built in...just heavier terminal contacts to handle the big amperage

Been known to buy in bulk. I had thought the last year they were used is '69?

Your Raider isn't equipped with all the safety switches found on the "C" so here is a much simpler diagram with the 103990 key switch. 2

I thought it was the wrong key switch.
WHX?? 48,815 #8 Posted August 18, 2021 Thank you Richard I have those saved to my files but wasn't quite sure which one he needed. Yes AHS those 70A switches actually worked quite well and I have a 857 & 867 with the original on it and works quite well for 54 years old! The return to run spring usually gives out on them. The hassle with them is having to run & connect heavy gauge wire to them.

The hassle with them is having to run & connect heavy gauge wire to them. Wow! I wouldn’t have expected that…being that there such high amperage. And other side to it is; that the key switch is made in the USA, and there made back in the 60’s (when everything was pretty much near bulletproof!) AND Wheelhorse used the key switch! (That alone means it’s tougher than nails!). Yes, I thought it was the wrong key switch. That key switch will probably still start tractors in 2031 when the 10 year old solenoid is fried!😀🇺🇸
1940willys 120 #10 Posted October 31, 2021 Squonk, Will this Diagram work for a C101 vintage 1976? Daughters C101 ran fine for the last cutting of the season the other day. Died at the very end and had to be pushed into the shed where it sits 60 miles away. Won't turn over and I suspect clutch pedal safety start switch because it's always been a little Sketchy. So if the Clutch safety fails When the Tractor is RUNNING, will that STOP the tractor While it was running?

So if the Clutch safety fails When the Tractor is RUNNING, will that STOP the tractor While it was running? No. The clutch switch only kills the starter circuit. The diagrams posted will work. If your tractor has an ammeter check it's connections. Bad connections there or a bad meter kills power to the switch and you will have nothing Edited October 31, 2021 by squonk
