JD guy 1 #1 Posted August 17, 2021 Replaced both auger shaft seals, peerless gearbox gasket of auger shaft drive, & quad ring on 79361 snow blower. Seem to have an occasional drip of 80W90 from bottom of outside of gearbox while setting despite slight amount of silicone on each side of new gasket at time of reassembly. What LUBRIPLATE brand grease product is reccomended in the right angle auger gearbox on a 79361 blower vs the usual 80w90 gear oil?
peter lena 8,588 #2 Posted August 17, 2021 @JD guy, did some back checking on that lubricant , and its related use, its not the BRAND OF LUBRICANT , ITS THE TYPE OF IT. what you want, is a POLYUREA RATED , ( RETRACTING ), GREASE LIKE LUCAS ,X-REA HEAVY DUTY GREASE . walmart has it for $5 , in stock . its also anti sling and hi temp rated . did over a 44" wheel horse 2 stage blower , and used this on it , in addition to other neglected lubrication spots . https://lucasoil.com/products/grease/lucas-x-tra-heavy-duty-grease, made it spin without effort , and the grease is made for that application . btw , lubriplate is one of my favorite lubricants , especially on open chain drive areas , like blowers , use the extra heavy open gear / cable spray , for that . since using the lucas xtra heavy grease in bearing failure areas , no failures or noise, pete
