lynnmor 7,308 #2 Posted August 15, 2021 There is an oil pressure switch on the oil filter mount. You need to remove the shroud to service it properly. The switch only responds to oil pressure, not oil level. It serves two purposes, it turns on the oil light when there is little to no pressure and it turns on the hour meter when there is oil pressure. It will not shut down the engine. Paul Dietrich 19 #3 Posted August 15, 2021 In reading the trouble shooting guide, It says if no spark on plugs, use a jumper from the (+) post on battery to positive post on coil, if you then have spark the problem is the oil pressure switch or the oil pressure switch circuit...... The ones I'm familiar with did not have oil shutoff, only low pressure indicator. We need to know the model/serial of yours to be sure you are in the right guide and to confirm standard wiring. I am adding this post so that someone searching the forum is less likely to be confused, not as a response to @Paul Dietrich The section below of the demystification guide can certainly be read that there could be an oil pressure cutoff. Even with the "(if so equipped)" qualifier, the sentence is not especially clear--all the more confusing by seeming to include "the lubricating system (low oil pressure)" as a possible fault for no spark. Sigh. Bottom line is that the Onan's on the 520's (and 516's and 518's) are not so equipped and their oil pressure sensor is wired either to an indicator lamp directly or to multi-pin connector that drives the "idiot light" panel--low oil will not kill the spark or shut down the engine. The best way to confirm this is to examine the wiring diagram for your year and model tractor. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
