I have an Emmert #82 turtleback pattern maker vice. Can you guys give me any information on it. Value?

It seems to be all original, unrestored.

Welcome to the Emmert central. Can you take a photo of the front so it can be dated?

Your vise is a "Turtle back" type T4, which is the oldest version of the Emmert vise.Values on Emmerts are highly subjective.  Unlike other brands as Yost or Oliver they were made by the thousands and are quite abundant. Type and condition is always what dictates value. First for the bad in yours. There is a chunk missing from handle receptacle and you are missing the tilt bracket. You have only half of it. The other half most likely stayed screwed to bench it was mounted on. Check to see if there are any cracks or repairs to the castings. As beefy as they are they are quite fragile since they are cast. The missing chunk is usually a sign of abuse from excessive tightening.

Aside from the obvious it looks OK. Check to see if knob turns front jaw . By pulling lever under it you should be able to turn vise on beam although it may be hard to do that not mounted on a table.

Yours should go for around $500.00. If you find the other half of the tilt bracket it may fetch around $650.00 . If it wasn't for the crack , cleaned up and lubricated it would bring around $800.00. Shipping is usually a problem. Expensive and they have to be properly crated or they will break.

On skinny top part of front jaw, if you clean it up there should be a serial number. I am curious as to what it is.

Thank you for all your help.  Im going to post locally here in Western PA for $500.    When it goes by by, I will be looking for an older hand crank ice cream maker.
