first thing I'd do is look up wiring diagram for your model check over wires see if somthing is hooked up wrong.

If a fuse blows something is grounded that shouldn't be. You need to provide a bit more information. What year and model is your :wh:? Not all Wheel Horses are wired alike. What part number ignition switch did you use? Not all Wheel Horses use the same ignition switch.

I had a machine doing that (bought it that way, knowingly), turned out the guy had put a new solenoid on it and didn't bother to tighten it to the machine!

Fixed that and it's run fine ever since :)

Does the fuse blow when you turn the key to the RUN position?

or

Does it blow when you turn the key to the START position?

You can replace the fuse with a test light or voltmeter to test. This saves blowing fuses.

Each test lead goes to the terminals the fuse occupied. When the test light is lit or a voltage reading appears the short is present.

The object is to determine what circuit is causing the problem.

The wiring is fairly simple on this model.

This pic is from the manual for the 1994 Wheel Horse 314-H

The only thing powered in the RUN position is the light circuit but that 15 amp fuse is not blowing so look at the wiring to the seat switch, the seat switch and to the seat switch relay. These wires are white.

If you turn the key to RUN not sitting in the seat does it still blow the 25 amp fuse?

Not likely. You need a short to GROUND to blow the fuse. Probably a wire chafed, Check the wires all the way to the seat switch where you have it bypassed. we had another member with the exact same scenario and he finally found the spot where the seat switch wire was rubbed through.

You can not bypass the seat switch on this model. If you do the engine will never run.

For testing purposes just leave the wires off the seat switch.

If that eliminates the short plug the wires back into the seat switch.

Short has returned?

Do as Gary @gwest_ca suggested, use a 12 volt test light (best) or meter to replace the fuse for testing. Remove the fuse and connect the test light to the two fuse holder connections. Now when  the short is present the test light will be bright and when you clear the short to ground the light will go off. At some point a wire is touching the chaises if the tractor or there is a component that has an internal ground.

Take a look at the wiring diagram below, the seat switch and seat switch relay and the wires that go to them should be examined closely.892684339_Screenshot(82).png.067efc63dd71da1e922621837f086d51.pngRelays.jpg.e4eab8c75e0557e72aa522e34781e402.jpg

You have no idea what is wrong with the wiring at this point. If it were me, I would disconnect the magneto wire from everything, before you inadvertently send 12 volts to the magneto coil. That could really ruin your day. Maybe it's not possible to do, but not know where the problem lies, I think anything might be possible.

@squonk agree with squonk  on the wiring check out , and wire fraying , another thing that I have done on my wiring , at replacement time , is to CORRECT THE ORIGINAL TIGHT FITTING LAYOUT , which more often that not  insures shorting and failure areas. laying down wire in a CABLE WRAP , insures no chafing , changing the tight original set up , is very easy and it just makes sense , to eliminate a problem area  ?  why not correct a poorly laid out problem . every one I  found on my horses  ,  is gone and upgraded . just my own experience, pete
