What all have you guys used for hood hinges?  Im looking to mount the hood on my 655. I may need to raise the hood to clear the aftermarket air intake on a predator 6.5.   Pics would be very helpful.

I personally did not hinge mine, (some other guys will be able to help you with that) but, as you can see from pictures of my tractor, I did end up cutting part of the hood, on the front left side to provide clearance for the air filter.

My current engine is so big, it still requires this part of the hood to be cut... for there to be clearance of the filter...

The part of the hood directly to the left of the air filter had to be cut all the way down. You really can't even tell that it was cut...

If you look VERY closely right underneath the hood, you can see a piece of steel L stock that I used to raise my hood, to provide extra clearance of the hood (and fuel tank) from the engine.

Regards,

Don

On the factory 1974 C160 most were Kohler engines as we all know.

There were a small number of Tecumseh OH160 overhead valve 16 HP used.

The techie is taller and required a hood hinge built to accommodate it.

I have both here and can snap some pics later.

I tried to find a picture demonstration but none were at a good angle.

All the later models are hinged off the front tac-a matic. You will have to build something to bolt to the frame.

It could also replace the existing hinge which should be bolted to the bottom of the hood.

One of the members used "bronze 70's-80'sGMdoor hinge bushings. If they can hold a 100lbGMdoor" I plan to use them on my C-Series Hoods.

I wanted a bit more clearance for the muffler when i put a Magnum 16 in a Charger 10.  Put spacers between hinge plate and hood bottom.

I used some Dodge door bushings.
