I have an 84 GT1100 Wheel Horse (first one) modal # A1-11B801-1984, Briggs engine 252417-0664-01 in need of a solenoid?- all connections tight, just clicks . battery fully charged. This website is a great one for sure for that reason and many more. Most anything electrical I replace with new instead of original. Like Gary states above a 70s Ford solenoid is what to ask for. Just specify 3 or 4 post as your machine has. Usually 3. There are good quality electric parts from several different companies available. If you place an old screwdriver across the two large terminals of the solenoid will the starter turn over? Is the solenoid body grounded well? Thanks i will check that out with voltmeter ( what am i looking for?). it did Starte once when i crossed the two terminals, it since now clicks. connections seem fine & battery fully charged. hate to replace a part i didn't need to- got too many extra/old stuff from same behavior of mine... It's important to remember that these are DC current systems. Direct Current. If you don't have a good path for the current to flow every direction that it's supposed to you don't have ..... direct current. Remove, clean and reinstall each end of every wire in the starter solenoid circuit. Doesn't happen very often but it is possible that the solenoid will click and not make enough connection to pass current. I've had it happen. midpack 866 #8 Posted August 5, 2021 Look for the wiring diagram for your machine here. Most if not all are available. Have you checked the fuses? It could be any number of things really. Most common are grounds and safety switches. I had a tab broken off in a connector once, intermittent contact made me think I had it fixed, then nope.
