Gregor 4,846 #1 Posted August 3, 2021 I want to put a snow plow on one of my tractors. I don't know which tractor yet. I was wondering, what is the best set up for pushing snow on a concrete driveway? Bar tires? with chains? Turff tires? with chains? ATV tires? with chains? Or is there something else? Thanks Greg
Pullstart 62,807 #2 Posted August 3, 2021 Based on discussions of the past, a well weighted turf tire in winter time will always outperform a bar/Ag tread. Add chains (and even more weight) and fluid fill ‘em, you’ll be in good shape for pushin! 3
rjg854 11,352 #3 Posted August 3, 2021 Keep in mind that chains may mark up the concrete, they do have rubber chains for concrete and asphalt.
SylvanLakeWH 25,500 #4 Posted August 3, 2021 I run turfs with no added weights or chains. Three flat drives with typical Michigan slop er… snow… works fine for me and no marks…
Gregor 4,846 #5 Posted August 3, 2021 I have a set of weights, and a tractor with turf tires. I will try that, and add chains only if necessary. Thanks All
Achto 27,511 #6 Posted August 3, 2021 I have heard rave reviews on the Carlisle Versa Turf tires. Some even claiming that they no longer need chains. They are supposed to kind to your lawn as well. https://www.millertire.com/23x8-50r12-carlisle-versa-turf-compact-radial-tractor-tire-6-ply/

Previously I have had regular turf tires with metal chains that worked good. I have a driveway with pavement and gravel spots. Worked pretty good on both. No weights either.
