Plow Lift

Recommended Posts

1973Auto

Hello all, just a simple question, my 73 auto lofts the plow with about 6" of chain. From lift arm to the plow bracket. Was this the correct set up, or was there supposed to be a solid steel piece that would go from the arm to the plow. Hmm, just wondering if this was cannibalized when I bought it. :D

I can't answer for your particular set up, but the plow on my C has a solid link. I'm sure the ones I saw all had solid links, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe TT, Bill, or Stephen or someone else who knows a thing or two will respond.

It SHOULD look like this:

There was also a solid lift link (P/N 7706, I believe) that fastened directly to the arm on the lift handle shaft and connected directly to the A frame. This bypassed the chain and the "T" bar and allowed down pressure (no "float") on the hydraulic lift tractors. You could also push ahead on the manual lift handle for down pressure on the blade.

From the bottom looking up, you can see where the trunnion fastens to the lift lever shaft arm:

If you have the 7706 solid link, it would mount in that hole and hook directly to the bracket on the A frame.

Here's P/N 7706:

Terry,

Since we're on the subject of the lift link, Willie Victor had a question on the dimensions of this link. Thought maybe you could help him out here:

Thanks, everyone. I probably have a cannibalized lift assembly. I believe I need part number 4 from the exploded view. I can't open the pics that are posted. For some reason my computer won't let me open those. If anyone has a plow manual they could fax to me at work, it would be most appreciated. Plow for a 73 Auto, 12hp. Let me know and I will give you my fax #. Thanks again
