Sparky-(Admin) 21,330 #29 Posted August 3, 2021 Had a similar situation with a 2014 Chevy Cruze (worse car I have ever owned but that’s another story). At 62,000 miles I was out of all warrantees. I was looking at a catalytic converter replacement to clear the check engine light. I happened to stumble on a GM forum mentioning that when all the cars warrantees (bumper to bumper and then drivetrain) were over that the cat was the only item still covered. It was something like 10 years and 150,000 miles!! I’m assuming there was an issue with cats in the model year Chevy I had and that was what brought on the extra coverage. Chevy dealer swapped it for free. I promptly traded it in!!
cleat 6,051 #30 Posted August 3, 2021 I guess that I am lucky with my 2015 Cruze. It has been totally trouble free. I am a Ford man and also have a 1985 XR4Ti, a 1986 Mustang GT and a 2020 F-150. All of my cars have functioning cats as I like to breathe. The 520's on the other hand may not pass an E-test.

Your lucky, or I just bought a lemon. Failures: Main brain/computer died. Plastic thermostat housing failed. Oil cooled failed. Water pump failed. Catalytic converter failed. I was warned that the PCV valve was going to be my next failure and that it was part of the valve cover so essentially you swap out the valve cover! I bought it used from a GM dealer with 11,200 miles on the clock and it was to be my college daughters car. When the cars computer died it was at night and she was in the middle of Pennsylvania on her way back to college in West Virginia. Car had 42,000 miles. From 42,000 miles to 62,000 miles it was failure after failure after failure. I did a happy dance the day I traded it in!
cleat 6,051 #32 Posted August 3, 2021 Mine just turned 50,000 Km (30,000 Miles) but so far is showing no sign of any issues. If it starts acting up I will get rid of it.

I know 4 people the have or had a Chevy Cruze. One has been a good car other than it is starting to get rusty. The other 3 had a rating about like a Chevy Vega, 50,000 miles = junk.
cleat 6,051 #34 Posted August 3, 2021 I guess with it being a cheap little car that GM did not put a lot of effort into making it a star performer. It really is an updated Cavalier. Fun little car though, it actually handles better than my sports cars. Performance is not as good but it is a little 4 cyl after all. First car I have ever owned that actually got good fuel mileage.

Gregor 4,846 #37 Posted August 3, 2021 My wife wants an old Mustang convertible. I Want a '64 Chevy Impala Super Sport convertible. If we should ever get either one. I have a hunch, it will be the Mustang. I can live with that. I had a '65 Mustang Fastback, in my teens. Really fun little car.
