ebinmaine 69,687 #1 Posted August 1, 2021 Me, BBT, her mom, and the Meeha Mirror spent some time processing firewood yesterday. We put the effort for the day into cleaning up a clearing that was expanded when we took a few trees down. The area in the pics plus dead center of the top pic but well into the ferns. Quite a few big chunks of hollow maple tree there. I cut those down the middle to make handling them easier. Tools of the day included Cinnamon Horse C160, trailer full of stuff, the splitter and of course the Trina Mama. Here's a "during" shot. Touched up the saw blade a bit. Here's what the area looks like now. The stacks are probably 6 feet, and 10 feet long. 4+ foot high. That's mostly beech and poplar so it'll be usable in about 4 months. There's about the same amount of those big maple chunks still to be cut. Brush pile is maybe 15 x 20 feet. Me and the Mackissic chipper will have a discussion with the brush later in the fall. Trina found a little friend exploring our work area when we shut down for the day. The view upstream from our bridge. The end of the festivities called for a cold one supplied by @Handy Don. This morning we'll be using tractors and trailers to move a couple cord of wood to the basement for winter storage. Then maybe back to the forest to work on the above area some more..... 6 3
Retired Wrencher 5,586 #2 Posted August 1, 2021 Eric by the time your retired you will have beautiful woodland cleared by selective cutting. A lot of work but worth it in the end. I always enjoy your picks and vid`s.
