I think the 314 is the sweet spot on wheel horses...a little more mowing power with the 14hp, single cylinder Kohler(major plus), and not nearly as sought after as the single cylinder 16hp Kohlers in the c-165 and 416, etc.  Great find and I bet it was an excellent value!  Looking forward to the next update on it!

@T-Mo terrific save / pick up on that  ! what an opportunity to bring that back , already thinking of what I  would do . from an oil rub down to going over every service area and enhancing those spots . get that deck upside down , for cleaning and an oil soak  {   only if you want to  ) , lots of other areas too , pete

Very nice! I wouldn’t mind a late model 314 or 315 in my stable. The last new wheel horse I saw for sale was a left over 315. I think it was around 2009. I had the money but other priorities. I still kick myself for not buying at least one new Horse.

Drove it around this morning.  Still has one year gas in it, so it's running a bit rough.  PTO doesn't work - clutch needs to some tlc I believe.  It wants to, but probably the mule drive needs adjusting, or at least a place to start.  I'll probably put it back on the market - I really don't need another lawn or garden tractor.

Key switch under the seat is for the mow in reverse operation.

I would probably sell it cheap (or trade for 3 point implements for my Ford tractors).  Right now I just don't have room for it nor a need for it.

I got the deck off and found out why the blades won't turn on....a broken pipe wrench jammed underneath the center pulley.  Also some more owner modifications on the Attach-amatic system.

I believe it broke and so they ran a long rod to lock the arms in place.  What's missing is items 14, 15, 16, 18, and 20 in the attached image.  In it's place they ran a long rod with a right angle bend on end, ran it through from the left and the rod had threads on the other end, and they double nut it on the left.

WHX??

With all the mods sounds like a PO just didn't know any better. All easy enough for any of us to get back into shape tho.  Well worth it if the engine is usable or even halfway decent shape.

The mods can be undone, though I'm not sure how the Attach-a-matic pieces are retained on the right side.  Press in? I imagine, though that item 15 keeps in place.  It looks like I can still buy all the parts to get it back to original, though I might try to get them used.

Lots of used mid-Attach-a-matics on the bay. I'd look for one of the newer ones with the round shaft lever exiting the left side and turning rearward--much easier to operate than the down-facing lever!

Previous owner probably saying  "so thats where my wrench went that I use for everything ".

My brother-in-law saw it and I could tell he wanted it, so I gave it to him.  I'll take it over to his place probably this week.

I assume “it” is the tractor and not the wrench:lol::hide: nice tractor btw.

Yep, the tractor, not the broken pipe wrench.
