5-1482 lift stud and rod

Recommended Posts

Recently finished repairs to the deck and have it mounted under the 1-7441 GT14. I have a couple of lift rods and studs but the rods are different lengths and neither of the studs is long enough to get the hairpin in it when it’s on the tractor. Anybody know what length the lift rod should be ?  I’m pretty sure I can get a stud made at a local machine shop but I’d buy one if anyone has one to sell. Seems like the turned down part of the stud needs to be around 7/8” to have room for the hole that the hairpin goes through. I put a chain on it to see how it mowed and that worked just fine for now.  Although it doesn’t seem to have enough height adjustment to cut at 3”-3 1/2”.

Three inches is about all you will get in height cut as the lift linkage gets worn. The chain works a lot better then the rod as they tend to get bent and hang up in the trunnion.

New trunnions are available but look to be only about long enough for a 3/8" thick lift bar. Their not cheap at $16 and change. Good luck in finding something that will work.

I used a chain and Wheel Horse clevis for quite a few years.

Lee,

thanks, I like your chain and Clevis ides. Currently using chain and bolts and it’s tough to get wrenches in there. Are they special Wheel Horse clevis?

No special W-H part. Should be able to get those clevis's at most hardware stores.

Thanks Lee1977. I thought they looked different than commonly available clevis. I’ll check out “Wheel Horse Parts and More”.
