Working on a pair of 701 foot rests

Recommended Posts

I am working on a pair of 701 cast foot rests.   These were pretty rusty.   Placed them in a container with Evaporust,  used wire wheel and Dremel on the 3/4 foot rods and placed K &W Knock’er Loose Penetrate (Napa) on rods and set screws.

Used my impact drill to remove one of the set crews and lock nuts - it came right out.  One saved.

I am going to have to have my welder together weld the lock nut on the other foot rest to get the remains of the set screw out.
The foot rod remains should be able to come out after using my K & W.

Looks like that one's been sitting out a while, Lane.  Good luck with it.
