855 for a Charger 12

I was able to pick up a complete and really nice 855 at a sale. I’ve never really been able to get used to my charger 12 as a snowplow tractor so I thought I would use this with my small snow plow. Everything is there and everything works and it’s the smoothest, quietest K Kohler I’ve ever had. As soon as I switch a few things from the charger to this tractor i’ll probably sell the charger and the mower deck from this tractor.  I think it’s really going to clean up nicely. 2DE7C059-1DD6-42BC-A5FC-D216D02917F8.jpeg.9bfcd539ef7b4712c33394ba4cd7fb5c.jpeg5096EBBE-E236-4B81-A249-1CDD284CC0BC.jpeg.746b8b4bbf30b8dad1bfd0e7cbe16ce6.jpegF4135DC6-9AE1-485E-B4A2-245E60D6320E.jpeg.a91116b7b9919fb89c67c50bf150f3bf.jpeg

I love my 855 for plow duty.

IMO I'd keep the deck too. It's a good mowing machine as well. That foot operated PTO is one of my favorite things.

agree

my 704 has similar PTO - it's been years since I've used that tractor but I also liked the foot operated PTO

used the 704 for around 25 years and never had an issue with the PTO (or just about anything other than the pull start mechanism)

I don’t have the patience to mow with my horses. I can get my 3 acres done in a little over an hour with my zero turn.

What's wrong with your charger 12 that " you can't get used to it "? That sure is one sweet looking tractor.

I’ve just always had the manual transmission for my snow plows and that’s what I like to use. It’s what I’ve been using for almost 40 years. I have manual transmissions in all of my vehicles too. I guess I’m just a little goofy. B9FD67E5-2B09-4219-9554-2C1221DDA9D5.jpeg.6d35899805712434799872ada79d9820.jpeg

I have to do a lot of forward and reverse while snow plowing, with that being said, I sure do appreciate the automatic when it comes to plowing. The first few years owning a couple 68 Commando 8's one as a plow tractor and the other for snow throwing, I liked the way they handled, but once I tried out an automatic, I noticed a big savings in time not have to shift so much. Will probably never go back to a gear jammer for those duties.

That might be my issue. I have a very long driveway so I put it in high gear and just go. I have very little backing up to do.

Charger 12 is  faster going forward...All my snow horses are Charger/Electros.  I started out with gear drives for plowing would never go back now.  Wish you were closer i would give your charger a nice home

My 606 Predator has an upsized pulley so it does 8 mph in high gear so speed hasn’t been an issue when plowing. Haha.
