416 8 Onan / 312 Hydro with a 12 HP Kohler

Recommended Posts

Will the PTO work from the 312 Hydro with a 12 hp Kohler onto the 416-8 Onan?  My PTO disc went today. Any help would be most appreciated.

Unfortunately I am unable to answer your question, and I don't want to guess. So just let me offer a :WRS:.

Someone who knows for sure should be along shortly.

So maybe a 312-H. Kohler engine?

The 416-8 is an Onan engine.

Really important that you post the model and serial numbers of both of your machines (tags with this info are on the rear fenders near the left side of the seat) so that someone can give you clear answers about parts interchangeability.

If you're talking about the PTO clutch disc measure the O.D. If it's the same then yes it will fit.

Thanks a million. Wish I found this forum a long time ago. Swapped them today, everything seems to be ok. I'll eventually replace both PTO's as I use both machines. Thanks again.

Afternoon gentlemen friend of mine's father passed after a long illness, and he is now the owner of his Wheel Horse 416-8 with the Onan P216.  He wants to sell it to me as he has other tractors. I never owned and Onan Machine what advice can you give me. It has been in storage for 5 years and of course according to him "ran when parked" Has 365 hours on it. Thanks in advance going to look at it this Wednesday.

Inexpensive - Carlisle X Trac ATV Bias Tire - 16x6.50-8 Good quality (I expect) Should look nice with my large rear aggies
I don't know how much these have been discounted, but I expect anything you find like this from a good brand will be 2X to 3X the price. $45 each at Amazon. This tire is discontinued.

Rough measurement seems they are about 16" tall and the lugs are about 1/2" deep.

I have a 1996 520H Wheel Horse for sale.  The tractor has just over 800 hours on it.  It comes with a 48 inch deck.  The deck is a 1995 and has over 1,500 hours on it, as it came brand new with my 312-8 that I sold several years ago.  This 520-H has the swept front axle so it can handle a 60 inch deck.  I just replaced the battery and the deck belt this summer.  The engine is a 20HP Onan and it starts right up but requires the full choke.  The transmission is an Eaton 1100-062, hydrostatic.  The deck is in rough shape but the spindles appear to be in good working order.  The right rear tire has some cracking.  The original operator's manual for the 520H is included, as is the original operating and maintenance instructions for the deck, plus the installation instructions for the deck.  Also included is a new PTO belt and several miscellaneous deck wheels and rollers.  Additional pictures available upon request.  Asking $500.
