When you have had to deal with it for as many years as we have it gets old. @Achto is the lucky one he gets to battle the traffic to get to work. Course once he gets ther all he's gotta do is get up on the roof of his plant and best seat in the house!

At 4:45am traffic is not really an issue and my route home is usually pretty clear as well, so not too much hassle for me. I will admit that I do not try to go any where else in Oshkosh during the show. I have never been to the EEA show even though I have lived with in 45min of the air field / show grounds my whole life. Keep saying "One of these years I should go to EAA". I will sit in the parking lot at work and watch a little bit of the air show when I have time. Enjoy the show @Dirty Dingus Magee Post some pictures, please. Edited July 27, 2021 by Achto
8ntruck 6,991 #6 Posted July 28, 2021 My brother in law went to Oshkosh with his uncle a couple of times. I think one year, they flew there in Uncle Willy's Monocoupe.
Achto 27,510 #7 Posted July 29, 2021 (edited) @Dirty Dingus Magee, no pictures???? I caught the Good Year blimp on camera while I was passing by on Hwy41. Just a glimpse of the air field littered with planes. EAA is expecting around 10,000 planes at this years event. As @WHX?? mentioned, I work near Wittman Field (the air port that hosts the EAA event). Just out of curiosity I timed the planes taking off during my lunch break. The tower must let 2 planes take off at a time with only seconds spacing between them. Every 4 minutes 2 planes would pass over our parking lot, with about 45 sec between them. This seemingly goes on all day long with a break in traffic during the air shows. During the air shows I think the fighter jets enjoy doing fly by's that make our building rattle. Somewhere near your plant is or maybe was a plant called Arrowhead Conveyor. Don't know if they are still there or not but we were replacing some RTU's there during EAA. We sat and watched the air shows most of the afternoons.

Just for fun here is a site for tracking planes all over the word. Zoom in on Oshkosh Wisconsin, you will be amazed at the amount of plane traffic surrounding an airport that normally only sees a few dozen air planes per week. https://flightaware.com/live/ If you click on the individual planes you will get the plane ID and it's scheduled flight. That would lead me to believe it is part of what used to be called the “Confederate Air Force”. They changed the name with all the political correctness but I don’t remember the new name. They are all volunteer and work to restore and keep lots of old war birds flying or as static displays.
Dirty Dingus Magee 24 #14 Posted July 31, 2021 Commemorative Air Force. and i made a small donation after leaving the cockpit . yes, they let you go inside looking at the 22 little seats makes you think...what was going through their minds? waiting for the red light to hook your static line to the anchor cable and check the gear on the guy in front of you, then run out that door when the light turned green. all while being shot at. took a lot of guts

Both aircraft intended for support of ground pounder troops at the pointy end of the spear.
