Commando 8 Queston

The 68 commando 8 that i just got has the running boards instead of the foot pedals like all the other ones ive been seeing ? I noticed too that the running board is pushed way out so the handle for the front plow can come up from the bottom between the frame and floor board which is definately rigged . Should this model have the pedals and not the boards?

Should have had stirrups....but many people find it easier to get on and off with running boards hence some were owner modified...

Not sure what pictures you are looking for, but here is my Commando 8 with stirrups as is came from the factory.

They did this to allow the plow lever to come up through. But if it should have " stirrups" then thats what ill convert it back too.

Kind of odd that in 1968 the Commando had stirrups while the Raider and Charger came with running boards.

All the Commandos I have seen had stirrups.     What supports your right  floor board at the back end?  There is no rear support rod on a Commando.

 

The Raiders bolt to the frame and the belt guard.

Some person added these to my commando 8 . Look closely and you’ll see the stir up underneath the floorboard. No this isn’t the correct mower either.

I could be wrong, but wasn't the Raider, Charger, and later Bronco built on the longer frame with the big block Kohlers? Vs the small block Commando 8 on the shorter frame?

This is true but I just thought that if the decision was made to install boards on the 1968 models that it would have carried across the whole line.

We’ll, just look what wheel horse did in the past..

carrying parts over into the next model year just to use those up..the round hood was discontinued in the 65 model year except for the lawn ranger which continued to use it through the 68 model.

just a couple examples above show what went on with different tractor productions in the Wheel Horse line.
