Ferris 700z Zero Turn -Red!

Recommended Posts

stevebo

So I bought a Toro Timesaver 50” a few months ago. It was like new but after using it on my hills it was just not good for my property. Too light and rear wheels were too small to hold the hills. Sold that on Monday morning and Monday afternoon I picked up this 2013 Ferris 52” 700 series zero turn. The machine is a one owner with only 660 hours. After a bath and tune up it is everything I could want in a mower. I love my horses but this machine is the cats meow. Big Briggs twin runs mint and has tons of power. The machine has shocks all around. I ordered up some Carlisle trail tires foe the back and that should help hold the hills.
It is not a horse but it is red!

Nice looking ride.

Fluid filling the rears would help with traction as well.

I used a Ferris for years, mowing 16 acres a week.  I'd almost say top of the line Z-turn.  Enjoy.

I’ve owned the Simplicity version for 5yrs now and had no issues other than the stripes it leaves in the lawn  . Buy some Oregon high lift blades and you won’t be disappointed .

WHX??

Yep much as I love my horses My green and yellow thing :hide: from Dad's estate is a real timesaver. 48" deck & same Briggs as yours Steve and runs very well. Very little vibration and gobs of power. Traction seldom a problem on my hills with same stock turfs as a your Ferris.

Only beef I have, with any ZT, is the gauge wheels on the front of the deck need to be casters. Sharp, like zipping around trees, or even not sharp turns they dig in. Tried raising them up and playing with deck height but quality of cut suffers and more scalping.  My lawn is fairly bumpy and uneven.

In looking at all ZT's they are all fixed wheels and some  not even being adjustable.

You guys probably know this already but if you want to fly like the wind on these machines razor sharp blades are a must.

I do have a question on blades. Those of you would have this machine are you running high lift or mulching blades? Pros/cons? PO told me he only ran 1 high lift blade and the other two are non high lift. I am yet to remove the deck and see.

Lastly, If anyone has weight bracket on front I would love to see pics of it as I am gonna fabricate one. I have 4 small suitcase weights I picked up at the big show this year I plan on using for it

From what I can see, you have a front suspension. Adding weights (either to the axle as "unsprung weight" or to the frame as "sprung weight") will change the suspension's dynamics and possibly affect handling/ride.
