If you I have experience shipping a tractor, could you comment on what freight service you used and any lessons learned regarding process, contacts, and how they price.  Thank you.

Maybe @Tractorhead could comment on his customer service, I don’t recall the company.  Dayton Freight picked it up, I remember that!

I don’t know what happened with the audio on this... but we made a 656 ship safely from Michigan to Bavaria :handgestures-thumbupright:

Maybe you mentioned it in the video somewhere, but do you know how many days the trip took from your house to his?  Just curious

They picked it up July 2, 2020 and it was delivered August 19, 2020. Not too terrible for all that travel across an ocean!

@PWL216 for starters where do you want to ship the tractor from/to. I’ve used Fastenal to ship a few things and their initial price quoted have certainly gone up. But I’ve gone back too them and usually got somewhat of a better rate.  Their a stickler about all the fluids being drained and no battery. They also have a length/width/height limit because of the Class shipper that they are.

WHX??

Fastenal says has to be strapped to a pallet for forklift handling. The quotes I have gotten from them the cost depended more on the size of the pallet rather than weight.

Guessing an LTL  would be about 4 - 500 based on shipments I receive at work. Most carriers will get you a free quote. Rates also depend on whether you need a life gate or not.

Didn't you ship a tranny once too Kev?

Thanks for all the feedback. Very helpful. I’m in MA and from time to time I’ll see a tractor for sale in another part of the country that I might be interested in, but the shipping expense and logistics have always caused me to hesitate…

I sold a mower deck and to ship it with Fastenal was almost as expensive as a deck but my experience was a very good one. I called the local Fastenal and they told me where to go on the website. I entered a little bit of information and received a quotation back almost immediately. I would think you’d be able to do the same thing for a tractor to get an idea on your shipping costs. Good luck.

Been ther and drooled myself dry many times over a tractor out of reach.

Fortunately with hauling help and use of the member map I have been able to score some that were thought to be out of reach. Lets not forget about the willingness of fellas here that went out of their way to help.

Got a quote from UPS freight to ship a mower deck. Made arrangements thru them including charges sent to me. I think the quote was $85...going dock to dock.

Deck arrived in good shape but UPS sent the shipper a bill for $250.00. Called UPS and gave them the quote #, they said $85 it is and sent charges to me.

Save any and all receipts, and get names of people you talk to.

i have best experiences with the complete Transfer, the Company was one of my Customer.

I made it with http://www.harvaessen.com

They be located in Netherlands - about 600Km far from me, but all is well organized and shipped.

that logistic Company gets 20 from 5 stars rating 👍

a perfect Tracking over the whole transport route except Customs.

delivered 30 min before they announced, what is ok depending on Traffic and allowed speed limits here.

The transport was without bruises on the machine, the only bruises was done by unloading from my fella Mart‘l.

nothing was destroyed and the overall satisfaction is perfect from my

I also must give @pullstart 20 points in my Rating for the perfect Crating.

so it can arrives completely and in one

it will be close to 800$ for the complete crate to sent it arround the half World.

But i dunno the exactly cost, because the whole Transport was given to me free of Charge as a Birthday Gift.

Handy Don

Seconding using the hauling’ help postings.
I picked up some parts at the show for another member and a few days later we met at a midway point to exchange goods and $. I also got treated to a nice Asiago bagel and cup of French roast out of the meeting since we sat for awhile and talked tractors.
It’s about more than money. :)
