Felix 145 #1 Posted July 14, 2021 Hi guys. I’ve acquired a c120 auto that needs a fair amount of work. Engine not running but looks in good order. the half shaft also keeps popping out of the left hand side. I’m wondering if the 12hp Kohler engine will fit straight in my B80 4 speed with out any mods. I’m thinking I could make one nice tractor out of the pair I have. Here’s a picture of them both. 4 1

Kohler should just swap over. Edited July 14, 2021 by Maxwell-8

Felix 145 #4 Posted July 14, 2021 It’s getting the hubs of the half shafts that putting me of. Is it easy to get to the c clip once the case is split in half?

Is it easy to get to the c clip once the case is split in half? yes, look out for the old c-clip still laying in the tranny some where. Make yourself a good puller, the guy before you probably used a hammer, banging the clip out.

Maxwell-8 4,275 #8 Posted July 14, 2021 Can you take the axle out all the way? Just now, Felix said: Would I need to remove both hubs or just the side with the problem?
Felix 145 #9 Posted July 14, 2021 Not had it all way out but it came a long way out when I was. Towing it. It went back in easy.

You will have to take off both hubs, but once you have a good puller it's a breeze. Edited July 14, 2021 by Maxwell-

Achto 27,575 #13 Posted July 14, 2021 If you can slide the one axle all of the way out, you can use a press to remove that hub. Definitely fix the tranny before trying to put power to it. 2

One of them simply needs a little TLC. Why settle for one, if you can have 2? 1
Racinbob 11,081 #15 Posted July 14, 2021 I'm in total agreement with the others. The axle is a simple fix. If you still want to do the swap it's quite easy. Do not use the riser plate that the K-181 sits on. Use the PTO from the K-341.There's a bearing race inside for the larger shaft. A little bit of tinkering with the control cables and you're off and running. Here's my "B-160". I bought it new as a B-80 and swapped in a K-341. 3
