rpilote 20 #1 Posted July 13, 2021 Hi folks, I need held getting my PTO removed. I believe I am supposed to remove the short 7/16-20 bolt from the PTO and screw in a 5 inch bolt. Do I turn in the bolt till it contacts the crankshaft end and then use an impact wrench? Thanks in advance Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
daveoman1966 3,751 #2 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) You must mean the Electric PTO removal... Your method is correct....remove the little bolt that holds it to the crankshaft. Look inside that hole...you'll see COARSE threads. This is where you thread in the 5" long bolt (not sure of bolt dia...probably 11/16 or 3/4). The end of that big bolt will press against the end of the crankshaft, slowly drawing the E-PTO off. As you apparently know, don't EVER use any kind of tool ...like a 3-jaw...to take the E-PTO off... Guaranteed FUBAR. There arre TWO styles of E-PTO, and the removal method is the same. The GT-14 would be the 1972 & prior style. peter lena 8,627 #3 Posted July 13, 2021 @ rpilote, just staring you in the face is a terrific opportunity to pop off those wide rubber side grease seals , carefully with a pocket screwdriver , wipe out existing ( if any grease ) replace with lucas extra heavy duty . polyurea grease . reinstall seals . just my experience, pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
