Engine test stand

@squonk like the idea of a test bed set up, just being able to break in or detail a running engine is the way to go . my experience was fuel , lubrication and electrical detailing. always noticed a gain on response  , smoother running , my first oil changes were , showing me a clean up , electrical upgrades every step. running on seafoam , the transition  was obvious . just the opposite of its previous life , pete

I had to bring the 500 to a friend's house. I don't have everything needed to pull the flywheel off that engine. When we get that one running AGAIN I will start the engine swap on the 875 with the one you brought me. Still looking for that steering bracket too.

First step will be valve timing and lash

Ignition timing too!

Ignition timing was the first thing I checked. Appears to be correct. I do have some air leakage back thru the intake port when I pressurized  the cylinder at TDC.

Very nice work on that stand Mike.

I'll be looking forward to hearing what makes that engine go "right".

Recheck the ignition timing. Points Start to open very late. If I try to adjust the points so they begin to open while the S mark is lined up with the plate line, the points never close to re-establish the primary coil circuit. I think I have to tear into this engine because the cam timing is off. :(
