High lift blades on 37" deck

Recommended Posts

I have a 37" deck with a bagger. It has 1 high lift blade on the outlet side of the deck. I remove the deck and clean the accumulated grass clippings at each use. I noticed that the side of the deck with the high lift blade accumulates less clippings.  Has anyone used high lift blades at both positions or does anyone see a problem doing this ?

Mine has high lift blades in both positions and always worked good. I haven't used it this year because I have a power loader on a different tractor I acquired last year. The high lift have their limitations but I was happy with that set up.

I thought both positions required high lift.

The high lift blade with the wings  on the 37 deck is not really there to lift but to throw the clippings up the bagger shout. The left blade has some lift too, I think adding one with the wing set up wouldn't change much and may even change the dynamics of air flow of deck. If you don't mind spend the money for another blade with the wings, their about 150.00 each from Toro or sometimes half that price on ebay if your lucky, give it a shot.

Do you mean fifteen dollars? I got mine about eight years ago for around that. Maybe they aren't true high lift. I got the deck and bagger very used and the blades were history. Even the fact the set up was in ruff shap with the new blades if worked good.

The bagger kit for the 37" deck came with a blade with two wings one for each end of the blade, they bolted on to the blade. That blade was for the right side, discharge side. It created a lot of air force to blow the clippings into the bag. That blade and the wings a very expensive. If you just have a lift blade on it now, I'm sure it blow still grass in the bag just not as well. A lift blade is designed to lift the grass for a better cut so with the blade you have on it's and the bagger on it your not getting as much volume or grass clipping and speed they need to discharge, making for a lot more accumulation of clippings in you deck.

I attempted to install a high lift blade from a spare set of blades that I have on the left side of my deck.  The wing on the blade interfered with a baffle on the underside of my deck so a high lift blade with the wing cannot be used at this position on my deck.

If the blade is the one with the wings bolted to it it goes on the right (sitting on the tractor) side.

Yes, I am aware of that as per my first post.  I just wanted to inquire if anyone used high lift blades on both spindles and if they incurred any problems.  Thank you.
