The two hooks are the 'stops' that prevent the hood from flopping all the way forward. The hood itself attaches to those two angle brackets, those are the hood hinges. You need the hooks on the 175 (and I'm sure other blackhoods, but don't have any experience with other models so can't say), but I don't think there's any difference in the geometry of the actual implement attachment part, if that's what you're asking.
