Kohler Regulator Plugs ?

Recommended Posts

Uxtractor

Good Day everyone,

My tractor is a 1969 Wheel horse Raider Kohler 12 hp with a voltage regulator plug like so .........two terminals on bottom one on top why do some have three terminals in a row ?

I have a new 3 in a row regulator and since the Raider plug is corroded and must be replaced can I just wire the stator to the outside terminals and run the middle one to battery terminal at ignition switch ?

I hope that would work as I could use the flat plug regulator  I have . My old Sears with a Tecumseh had the flat type too . Cheers Mike

Straight line are usually 15 amp regulators  2 up one down are usually 10 amp.  (You can use a 15 amp regulator on a 10 amp stator but not a good idea to go the other way)

Yes you can wire it individually  The two terminal marked AC tot eh two white wires from engine the other to the ignition switch..  .

Most of the three in a row Voltage Regulators you will find are for the later model Kohler engines     Voltage Regulator Rectifier For Kohler John Deere 41-403-09 4140309and need to be mounted in the flywheel shroud for cooling. The one you need is like this one.    Used Wheel Horse Voltage Regulator, three prong plug

Good Day 953 Nut , Darn ! I kept some really old flat 3 pin ones but decided to order a new unit and looks like I made a mistake because that top picture you have is what I am getting , I will reorder the second type now .

What I can do is save the top one for my John Deere 130 because it looks like that regulator is mounted in the shroud a spare won,t go so wrong . This is the trouble when you buy a robbed out tractor you are not familiar with but it,s a learning process and I am retired, seems I identified the the mower deck wrong too it,s not a 36 inch but a 42 inch one this must have been quite a tractor in it,s day 12 hp electric start, lights front and back a cigarette lighter and even monogrammed front tires . Thanks for your help Cheers Mike

Found some plugs in a Kohler catalog that may match. Click on the picture in this link and again on the next page to enlarge.
