551 tranny trick

Looking to re-assemble my 551 tranny. When I took it apart, I had the right side case in the vice, thicker side, face down. The ball detents are in the left side of the case. Should I re-assemble it left side down? I'm thinking no, but I see that one fork shaft needs to go in first, then one ball, spring, and pin, as one with grease. Then hold the last ball in place with a punch though the hole in the case while inserting the other fork shaft. When that's done, I could put the spline shaft and hi/low gears together in as one unit. Is seems a little backwards, but it should work. I have to remember to put the nuts on the differential the correct way, (away from the brake gear). Any other thoughts or ideas? :thumbs2:

Got antsy and went with my instinct. Worked out perfectly! Everything went together easily. Bench tested without issues (in case Wild Bill reads this), and I'm psyched!! Still wondering if anyone else does it this way. Doing the detent balls was a piece of cake like this.
