Tire recommendation

Recommended Posts

Wheelhorse#1

Not sure where els to post this.

I have a 800 special,3 speed gear driven.I use it to cut grass.Part of the yard is hilly. When I’m going back down the hill it tends to slide sometimes.

I’m going to get new tires as I’m still running the original WH tires. They are cracked and dry rot but still hold air, no tubes, unbelievable!

Anyway trying to decide what tires to go with.

Anyone here recommend a certain tire for traction that won’t tear up grass ?

I was thinking Versa turf  23x8.50-12 or a set of Track chiefs .This size is a bit larger but I believe they will fit ?

sorry for the long post. Thanks for any advice you can give

I bought these a few years ago and they have have been great. Bought them mainly for plowing but I still do “yard work” in the spring/summer/fall and they don’t tear up my lawn.
Mine are 23x10.5, but they come in a narrower width as well

When it comes to tires n traction for hills, IMO ag's are the tire to go to. At work with have mowers with turf tires, and they don't hold a hill very well. Any soft ground, or wet grass they just spin. And when in soft grass they tear it up, but definitely leaves it's mark. I have ag's on my mower, and it doesn't even spin a tire. Barely if I accidently dump the clutch.
