obone 142 #1 Posted June 16, 2021 I'm replacing my clutch plate under my pto bell. What is the torque of the four bolts that hold it to the drive pulley? 100 and 400 series. Thanks.
WHX?? 50,748 #2 Posted June 16, 2021 I don't think there is a WH spec so I would just go with what spec those bolts are. 1/4-20 aren't they? Here's a handy chart .... Torque-Tension Reference Guide.pdf
obone 142 #3 Posted June 16, 2021 Thanks. Found this inside of PTO. Looked over the pdf and the flat head at the end of the PTO is not in the file. Is the PTO shaft damaged?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #4 Posted June 16, 2021 Get a new pto shaft #33 and bearing plus 2 retaining rings and forget those internal parts. The new shaft will pull the bell out because of the 2nd retaining ring. https://www.partstree.com/models/r1-12k804-312-8-toro-garden-tractor-sn-020000001-029999999-1992/pto-clutch-and-control-26/ Garry
obone 142 #5 Posted June 16, 2021 So when I do this I'll have to also replace 5196 with Toro part 109842 when I go with the updated double retaining rings and updated PTO shaft? Thanks
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #6 Posted June 16, 2021 5196 has been superseded by 109842 . The old pto shaft looks badly worn so figured the bearing inner race is also. If the bearing is OK reuse it. Garry
obone 142 #7 Posted June 16, 2021 I ordered a new one plus the other stuff you suggested. Old one seems kind of fine, but why not. Since I'm taking the little one out with the spring (not the one I ordered, but the one I no longer need) after I install the new parts how do I grease the others? I can see how to grease the big one inside the bell 6662, but the other 2 the one I ordered 109842 and the one on the crank 6658? Thanks yet again.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #8 Posted June 17, 2021 The new bearing will come already greased. The 6658 is the inner race for the big one. Just work grease into the needle rollers and that will take care of the 6658. You do not want any extra because it could come out and contaminate the clutch friction material. obone 142 #9 Posted June 18, 2021 Ok I just wanted to know for the next time I have to grease. How does it come out when I get the new one pressed? Thanks.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,243 #10 Posted June 18, 2021 The outer bearing can be removed using a long punch through the large needle bearing from the rear. No need to remove to add grease to the needle bearing. Garry
