bo dawg 516 #1 Posted June 14, 2021 I thought and wondered just for kicks how many of you all may have went with other paint color scheme on their tractors other than normal. Just something I always thought about doing just to change it a bit. I thought it would be interesting to see with any part/s of the tractors.
rmaynard 15,514 #2 Posted June 14, 2021 For me it's the way Elmer & Cecil did it or nothing. Maybe a variation or two in the Wheel Horse red, but that's it. 3
ebinmaine 67,610 #3 Posted June 14, 2021 Well you see. Trina and I are sorta like the black sheep of coloring Wheelhorses. My one strict rule isn't will NOT put a color on a Wheelhorse that was on another brand of tractor. We have my Cinnamon Horse C160. Her 657 Pony is red. A bright Poppy Red. Both engines are off white like the wheels. Colossus will be a few different shades of metallics along with a bright Red. Trina is in process of building a Military Tribute Tractor. Mostly 60s color OD Green. 5 1

953 nut 55,316 #5 Posted June 15, 2021 In my opinion it is your tractor and your money so I have no right to tell you what color(s) you can paint it. I have been known to deviate from the factory correct color scheme and probably will again. 4
Gregor 4,846 #6 Posted June 15, 2021 I have Casper. To be honest, I'm not sure I like it as much as I thought I would. Some day,, it may go back to red. But ya gotta admit. He is kind-a cute. 2 1
OldWorkHorse 3,045 #7 Posted June 15, 2021 I don't change the color up to much.... 1 1
bo dawg 516 #8 Posted June 15, 2021 (edited) Well I normally would just go with factory WH colors but I been wanting to hi- light the scheme just a bit as Retired Wrencher said. Wheels something different than stock or adding some other color to the red, or take away a color or something to that degree. I probably wouldn’t want to go a whole complete different color but then again if it was a cool color I might. Lol Something like I did to the wheels on my 175. I really like the look of it. Even thought about using that chrome red on a tractor. Edited June 15, 2021 by bo dawg 6

I want to convert 1 of mine to the hubs like that. 1
Thor27 769 #10 Posted June 15, 2021 I have a Briggs 18 and 520hc rear going on a black hood, think I'm going to go silver to pay homage to the gt1800 and sticker it up as a gt185. Would that be wrong?

The origin of the front axle was a narrowed custom built by an unknown previous owner. I used it as my first project while learning to stick weld. Cut it into three pieces and put some 2-in stock steel in between all of it. The spindles are hand built by a great friend of Trina and I. Professional fabricator with full access to all kinds of heavy duty metal working equipment. I can say I helped build the spindles too but all I really did was try to stay out of the way except for when she needed somebody to pull on a crescent wrench to create the bends in the steel. The hubs are inexpensive 5 lug trailer hubs and 12x4 wheels I picked up online. All told, the axle will be 42" across at the widest point.
