Another Fix-A- Flat Story

Recommended Posts

Pollack Pete

Yesterday, working on my recently purchased Brand X,orange colored tractor,I decided to pull the slow leaking front tire off and repair it.Tubeless tire.Gonna tube it.Got the tire off the rim, and,of course, someone had used the dreaded Fix-A-Flat.What a mess in the tire and rim.I would normally just scrape away at it,but I happened to have my pressure washer out and hooked up,so I thought, what the heck.It pealed that sticky, gooey crap right off.Sand blasted,POR-15,prime and paint and I'll be all set to put the tire back on with a new tube once the paint is good and dry.Just a heads up to use a pressure washer for anyone cleaning a tire and rim  that someone else "fixed" with that slimy crap. They ought to ban that stuff.

Years back I would carry a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk of my car for an emergency quick repair. Never did use it on a tire but one day the can ruptured inside the trunk, that crap was everywhere and never seemed to dry out.                :soapbox:

I believe they use butane as the propellant.
