Decal Confusion

Picked up this tiller to have as a spare.  It has no model tag on it.  My question is the Workhorse badge on it I never saw one with that model name.  Did WH make one with that name?

I know they had a Workhorse line of tractors I had a few but I didn’t think it applied to attachments

Yup.  I have one decaled as a Work Horse. It is all red how ever, no black. It is a little late in the day for pictures but.

And it even has the 2 tone black and red paint. I heard they only made one with that paint code. I think it should live in New Milford

Thanks to JAinVA for the info. I guess they did label them as Workhorses maybe to be sold with the GT series tractors

There’s no difference between the Work Horse tiller and the Wheel Horse tiller at all. Only the decals. I’m not sure why they sent them out with the Work Horse decals? I do know that would look nice behind my Work Horse though!

That’s a great looking GT Don. Meet me at the ferry dock in the morning with the GT and I will bring it to my house and mount the tiller then maybe bring it back to you.

Got an all red tiller with the work horse badge on it in the shop. Original owner said it's what the dealer had on hand when he bought his '97 416-8.

Appears the Workhorse decal is part number 94-9158 and used on the 200-Series, 300-Series and 5xi-Series tillers 1997-2003.

Thanks for the additional replies. Sounds like it is supposed to be all red in color.  Can’t explain the black gear box but as long as it digs and the tines are good I don’t care.

Some models were also sold to New Holland. Wonder if they changed to black for the gearbox so they could just add the red and blue covers to suit the order.

I didn’t think of that option.

Stumbled across another interesting detail.

The parts lists for the 79370 in 1994 list some parts as "red" so they likely had the same parts painted black.

Look at item 4 in this link, 20 and 23 to 28 just have an "R"

Interesting find.  I am starting to believe your New Holland theory.  Only one that makes any sense
