When checking your clean oil level after removing the dipstick carefully lay it on a clean paper towel but do not slide it or move it, that will make an imprint for you to get an approximate reading. @Jonnyrocket132           :text-welcomeconfetti:to   :rs:

Great tractor that 310. This was dropped off at my house, I interrupted it on the way to the dump, I just couldn't let that happen. Doesn't smoke or burn oil. Some before and after a clean-up and refurb pictures.

at the time the engine was acting overloaded, I had the deck lowered low because my dad likes the grass cut really low. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not

That's quite possible.  You may have to make two passes, at a slow ground speed and with the engine at full throttle.  I typically mow in 2nd or 3rd gear low range in high grass with both my C-105 and 310-8.  First pass might be with the deck raised to the transport position (not recommended long-term), then with the deck down but at the highest position.  Try that and see if it helps.

yeah it is a shame that these days all the manufacturers care about is looks and not the quality of the tractor
