The Tuul Crib   7,336 #1 Posted June 3, 2021 So I've started on another woodwork adventure adventure from the Tuul Crib 🗜. I've been waiting to put the chrome rails back on my truck made for the Ford Ranger. But I have opted for crafting some side boards for that more country feel. I have three planks that are at least 11 inches wide. I'm not sure of the species but maybe @formariz can't help me on this. I am going to run one board width Front to back on both sides with another smaller board on top going halfway.I have access to the CNC at work and our interior engineer at work is a genius at the program. I am wanting to put a logo on these long boards! Wheel Hose maybe?  I am looking for some ideas for a font to have him program to cut out on these boards. 1
formariz   11,987 #2 Posted June 4, 2021 Is that wood fragrant? It looks like sassafras but it’s hard to tell on a photo. However if it is fragrant that pretty much nails it.

However if it is fragrant that pretty much nails it. Havent cut it yet. Its too redish to be sassafrass. At least what I'm familiar with here. I bought it in a quantity of lumber from a woodworking shop here in Nashville that went out of business a few years back. The price tag they had on each board was 105 bucks. I'm planning on sanding it down and seeing what it looks like from there. I might leave it natural with a clearcoat.
formariz   11,987 #4 Posted June 4, 2021 So essentially they were around $10.00/ board foot. If it’s that red and at that price it may even be Bubinga. If they turn a bright red when planed it could be it. Just not too convinced because of the light whitish streaks on it.

Look no further than our own @Vinylguy, Terry has done some custom decals for people and the font he uses is just like the factory used.

Wheel Horse 3D Â Â 3,795 #8 Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) Some good looking lumber there! CNC is very similar to the 3D print process. I'd be willing to donate some logo files to the project to give your guy something to work with. Not sure what format he runs in but could get some .STL files or maybe even a gcode sample if that would help. Also can help ya figure a font and provide a file of the text in .STL or maybe ,SVG. (Already went through the whole" which font do I want?" with @ebinmaine LOL) Â Terry @Vinylguy likely runs his Vinyl files in .SVG as well. The Tuul Crib   7,336 #24 Posted June 5, 2021 Never thought of spelling it that way.......Now thats different! i'm not sure how the wheel horse logo in the center will work in this color of wood. And I don't want to put White as a horse head. But I do like the font! Im making the uprites out of white oak cause it weathers better.
Wheel Horse 3D Â Â 3,795 #25 Posted June 5, 2021 Ill make the text and head as seperate files, so you can size and space them however you like!
