Bertie 314 #1 Posted June 2, 2021 (edited) This is my 42" side discharge deck off the 416-8. The serial number is missing and want to set it up properly re cutting etc, I presume the steel bar is something to adjust so want to download the correct manual any idea guys.. Jeff-C175 7,199 #3 Posted June 2, 2021 (edited) @Bertie That bar is for leveling the deck when it's on the ground. You've got it on backwards though: Basically, you put the deck at the mid position on the height adjustment, with the deck on a flat surface you measure the front and back of the blade from the floor. Adjust the nut on the bar so that the front tip of the blade is just slightly higher, maybe 3 mm or so, than the rear. There is a 'manuals' section here that you can certainly find the manual for your deck with more explanation. Edited June 2, 2021 by Jeff-C175

peter lena 8,584 #9 Posted June 15, 2021 @Bertie, good looking cutting there , when you sharpen those blades , I like to use a small fine flat file , taking off minimal metal and giving you a quick sharp edge ,always use a aerosol lube with that , to minimize rust. looks like very good discharge along with your cutting . also lubricate any movement point on deck and lift frame areas , especially the rear of deck adjustment rack and two axel swing points , makes for very easy adjustments , pete
