Bentoolong 94 #1 Posted June 1, 2021 I'm looking to purchase a battery for an 857. It does not have a blower or blade so it won't need to work in the cold. I don't care to get a larger size (CCA) than needed. What is the recommendation for the CCA on this tractor. Where do people purchase these or is it "wherever whose got it on sale"? Thanks all, BenTooLong
WHX?? 48,828 #2 Posted June 1, 2021 (edited) A 230 CCA from Menards or Fleet Farm or Walmart will work fine. Pullstart 62,912 #3 Posted June 1, 2021 Did you get it then? Let me know if we need to come up with a steering wheel...
Bentoolong 94 #4 Posted June 1, 2021 Hey Pullstart, Yes I just rolled into the yard with an 857 a few hours ago. Just seemed like a good day to buy a tractor. I'll make proper introductions in the tractor forum soon. Yes, the steering wheel is a mess but the list doesn't;t end there. My next dollar will be spent on either getting air in the original ( I think ) stiff old tires or getting it running.

tom2p 2,394 #6 Posted June 2, 2021 in my experience - the higher CCA batteries will better deliver starting power after sitting for extended periods and will also deliver more years of service to me they are worth the added expense
