Tiny Engines Are So Cute, 2hp B&S

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

Sorry I haven't been on the site lately, had a couple crazy months (nothing bad or anything, just busy).

Just picked up this cute little B&S off FBM (gotta stop surfing that place). Not sure what its off of, one forum I found made mention of a possible reel mower. I know its not exactly WH related, but it is a little engine.

Mods, if this belongs in a different forum, please feel free to move it.

Previous owner said it had good compression, and that he zapped himself on the plug, so it has good spark.

The little research I did makes my think this was built in '59 based on the serial. Need to find a manual for it and see what I can figure out about it.

Model: 61102

Type No: 940562

Serial: 5907240

If this manual doesn't cover it there is another one in the same section for "Early B&S"

So... big question is... could this power a small WH? Like an RJ or suburban?

K91's were only 4hp. Not sure how this would work being half its size. Maybe just for a yard cruiser?

Howard had a 2 1/2 hp on one. I remember when we met. I ask if it was enough. His reply was it hauls my fat a$$ around.:ROTF:

He doesn't need much power. He stops to talk every 5 feet anyway! :hilarious:

Just for a yard cruiser i’m sure definitely yes it will work, no problem

that changes rapidly with the idea of an mowerdeck will occur later on...

except you hang several lawnmower together and behind like this Guy. 😂

Yardart at it‘s best. 👍

In this case, it would be going into the stealth horse (1962 lawn ranger). I am second guessing the Wisconsin swap, as its way too big to fit under the hood.

Been keeping my eye out for a Tecumseh H55, but I havent come across one yet. I did find an older 3.5hp Tecumseh that I'm thinking about snagging.
