KrazeyOlDave 860 #1 Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) EDIT: OMG.... major rookie mistake I measured the I.D. of my ball knob and of course it’ll read 5/16...it’s a 5/16 drill size for 3/8 threads Hey fellas and gals, I went to purchase some ball knobs for a production job I’m doing and I’m getting mixed information. My 310-8 has 5/16-18 threads on the main shifter...my question is, does this vary from model to model? I honestly would have thought they would have been 3/8-16. If y’all wouldn’t mind, can ya confirm your tractor model and ball shifter thread size please? Edited May 30, 2021 by KrazeyOlDave
ebinmaine 67,620 #2 Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) See above Dave edit. I. R. Idjitt too. All the models we've seen here range from early 60s to mid 80s. I don't recall ever seeing a different thread size. I also don't recall lots and lots of other things! 😂 @OldWorkHorse Steve has swapped shifters around. He could comment. I’m in process of doing some neat stuff. Here’s a little sample...still fine tuning. IMG_1963.MOV
OldWorkHorse 3,045 #4 Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) That's a good question, since the tranny didn't change much over the years you would think the thread on the knob wouldn't have either but the one I ordered and installed screwed on with a 3/8-16 thread.
