Picked up a GT 14 today

My first Wheel Horse. Tractors starts and runs. Hydro seems to be working well. I chained it to a tree and spun chained tires in both forward and reverse. It came with a snow/dozer blade attached and a 48” deck that’s gonna need some TLC and parts. Previous owner said he used it to plow snow but it has been sitting for two years. I’m gonna change all the fluids and filters, grease all the zerks and check out all the belts. I, not really interested in the plow but I do want to get the deck working well once I’m sure the tractor is right.

I’d appreciate any advice that’s offered. I’ll try to get some pictures ASAP.

Nice GT-14.Very capable tractors.I like the 15 inch rear wheels.I have 5 or 6 GT-14's  here.A couple run,the rest don't.Would like to part with a couple of them.Have fun with your new toy.

Welcome to the forum and the GT-14 club!

Before you go changing on the hydro fluid, check to see if its oil or ATF. Replace with ATF if it's still ATF, and 10w-30 if it has oil in it. The filter you want is a Wix 51410. If I remember right when changing it in my GT, it held roughly 4 quarts.

Brought the GT14 home this afternoon. Here are a few pics. I’m pretty sure it’s a 1969. The tag has 1-7441 for model #. I’m pretty impressed with how smooth it sounds and how easy it starts. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but the lights even work.

Thanks for the heads up and filter #.  I didn’t know that there might be oil in the trans. Manual says ATF type A and yup, 4 qts according to the manual.

Excellent tractor. If the gas tank pokes  out the front grille, it’s a 1969. Looks to be that way.

My GT-14 is a big back-saver, great machine and well wort owning. It isn't as nimble as some of the smaller :wh: for mowing tight places, but if you have a lot of lawn that will get it done.
